SimplPickl Privacy Policy
Effective: August 5, 2026 · Last updated: August 5, 2026
This policy is written in plain language on purpose. We have deliberately avoided legal jargon so you can actually read it and know what happens to your information. Nothing is shortened in a way that changes what we are promising.
SimplPickl is operated by The Maslin Group, LLC, a Colorado limited liability company doing business as SimplPickl ("we", "us", "our"). This policy covers the SimplPickl website, the SimplPickl mobile apps, and the emails we send.
The short version
- We collect what we need to run pickleball gatherings: your name, email, what you do in the app, and basic technical information your device sends whenever you connect.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not disclose it to third parties for their own purposes — including their own advertising.
- A small number of named companies help us run SimplPickl. They handle your information only to do that job for us, under contract, and may not use it for anything else.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites. There is no advertising or analytics tracking code in SimplPickl.
- We may send you a newsletter containing ads or affiliate links. You have to opt in, and every issue has a one-click unsubscribe.
- You can delete your account yourself, at any time, and deletion starts immediately.
- We provide SimplPickl as-is. See our Terms of Service for what that means for accuracy and liability.
1. How we receive information
You give it to us when you create an account, edit your profile, upload a photo, RSVP, enter a score, or post a message.
Your device generates it automatically when you connect: your IP address, your browser or app version and operating system, and the date and time you signed in.
Other users give it to us about you. An organizer can add a player to a gathering by name, including someone who has never created a SimplPickl account. If that is you, see section 9 — you have the same rights as everyone else, and you do not need an account to use them.
The app generates it as you play: the schedules, rotations, matches, scores and standings the software builds from what you and your group enter.
Our email provider tells us whether a message we sent you was delivered, bounced, or failed.
2. What we collect
Your account. Your name, email address, and a password, stored only as a scrambled "hash" we cannot reverse. SimplPickl has no "sign in with Google" or "sign in with Apple" option; an email address and a password is the only way to sign in.
Optionally: a profile photo, your gender, and a DUPR ID.
About gender specifically. It is optional and you can leave it blank or clear it at any time in Settings. We ask because mixed-gender rotations are the core of what the scheduler builds; if you leave it blank, the scheduler treats you as unspecified and places you where the format allows. Your gender is visible to the members of groups and gatherings you join, in the same way your name is, and an organizer who added you as a player may set or change it on your player record.
Your play. The groups you belong to, gatherings you RSVP to or attend, the rounds and matches you are scheduled into, byes, check-ins, and the scores and standings that result.
Your messages. Messages, reactions, and images you post in the group and gathering chats you belong to.
Notifications. If you turn on push notifications we store what your browser or phone gives us to reach you: a delivery address, two encryption keys, and your browser or device type. We use your email address for account mail, and — only if you opt in — for the newsletter.
Technical and security information. Your IP address, your browser or app version and operating system, sign-in times, and server logs recording requests and errors. We keep these to run the service, diagnose faults, and detect abuse. Our hosting and storage providers keep their own request and security logs.
Images you upload. Photo files can carry hidden metadata created by the camera, sometimes including where the photo was taken. We remove that metadata when you upload it, before the file is stored, so the camera, date, author and location blocks in a JPEG, PNG or WebP never reach our storage and only the picture itself is kept. Photos uploaded before August 5, 2026 still carry whatever their file carried when it was stored.
Activity records. Group and gathering actions (who added a player, who changed a time) so organizers can see what happened.
Cookies. A cookie that keeps you signed in and one that remembers light or dark mode. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party trackers in SimplPickl.
What we do not collect. We do not ask for or collect your device's location, your contacts, your health data, or payment details. SimplPickl is free and we do not process payments.
3. What we do with it
We use your information to build and show schedules, rosters, courts and standings; to let your group communicate; to send notifications you asked for and account emails such as password resets; to send the newsletter if you opted in; to keep the service secure, investigate reports and abuse, and fix problems; and to comply with the law.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not make automated decisions about you that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Email and the newsletter
Account emails — password resets, verification, notices about your account — are part of the service.
The newsletter is different: pickleball news, tips and product ideas, and it may contain advertisements and affiliate links (section 6). We send it only if you opt in, by ticking the box at sign-up or turning it on in Settings. Every issue carries an unsubscribe link, which we honor promptly and in any case within ten business days. Unsubscribing does not stop account emails, because those are how we reach you about your own account.
We never give your email address to an advertiser or affiliate partner. If a company advertises with us, we place their ad in an email we send.
Every commercial email includes our postal address, as US law requires:
The Maslin Group, LLC, 600 17th Street, Suite 2800 South, Denver, CO 80202-5428.
5. Who your information goes to — and who it does not
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not disclose it to third parties for their own independent purposes, including their own advertising. We do not "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as California law uses that term.
Other people using SimplPickl see what the app is for: your name, photo, gender, attendance, your place in the schedule, your scores, and anything you post in a chat is visible to members of the groups and gatherings you join. A gathering's public page can be opened by anyone holding its link or join code — treat that page as public.
Companies that run SimplPickl for us. They process your information only to perform services for us, only on our instructions, and are contractually required to protect it consistently with this policy.
| Who | What they handle |
|---|---|
| Railway | hosting the application; server logs |
| Neon | the database |
| Cloudflare (R2) | profile photos and chat images; request and security logs |
| Resend | sending our email; delivery and bounce records |
| Apple | push delivery to notifications on Apple devices |
| Klipy | only when you search for a GIF in chat — your search text is sent at that moment |
If we add or change a provider, we update this list.
The law and safety. We may disclose information where legally required — a valid subpoena, court order, or law that compels it — or where we believe in good faith it is necessary to investigate a report, enforce our Terms, or prevent imminent harm. We will tell you when we lawfully can.
If the business changes hands. If SimplPickl is sold, merged or transferred, your information may move with it. The buyer would be bound by this policy for the information transferred, and we will give notice before any transfer takes effect so you can delete your account first.
6. Advertising and affiliate links
SimplPickl participates in affiliate marketing. Some links on our site, in our apps and in our newsletter are affiliate links: if you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.
- We label affiliate links clearly and right next to the link itself, not only here, as US Federal Trade Commission guidance requires.
- A commission never changes your price, and it does not buy an endorsement.
- Advertisers and affiliate partners receive no personal information from us (section 5).
There is no third-party ad network in the SimplPickl app and no advertising tracker follows you from SimplPickl to anywhere else.
7. Tracking
We do not track you across other companies' apps and websites. SimplPickl contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no cross-site tracking pixels. On Apple devices this is why SimplPickl never asks permission to track you — we do not.
8. How long we keep it, and what happens when you delete your account
We keep your account and activity information while your account exists.
You can delete your account yourself at any time — in Settings, or at simplpickl.com/delete-account, which works whether or not you have the app. Deletion starts immediately and cannot be undone. Here is exactly what happens, in plain terms:
Deleted outright: your password; every active sign-in
session, which includes the IP addresses and browser information attached to them; your profile photo, removed from our image storage; the delivery address, encryption keys and device type your browser or phone gave us for push notifications; your group memberships, join requests, RSVPs, chat reactions and read-state.
Permanently de-identified: your account record is scrubbed in place — your name becomes "Deleted user", your email address is replaced with a value that cannot be mailed and cannot be matched back to you, and your photo, gender and DUPR ID are erased. Your player records are renamed "Deleted player" and unlinked from your account, so the connection between you and any remaining record is broken, not merely hidden.
Kept, deliberately: match results, scores and standings, so the other players' records stay intact — attributed to "Deleted player". Messages you posted in group chats remain visible to that group, authored by "Deleted user", because deleting one side of a conversation would rewrite other people's. Images you attached to those messages remain with them.
Ages out on its own: server and security logs, and backups, on an ordinary rolling cycle, generally within 90 days. We do not restore deleted accounts from backups.
Groups you own pass to another leader or member automatically; a group where you were the only member is closed.
If you were added by an organizer and never created an account, ask that organizer to remove you, or email us at support@simplpickl.com and we will do it.
9. Your choices and your rights
At any time you can: change or clear your name, photo, gender and DUPR ID in Settings; turn the newsletter on or off; turn push notifications on or off; delete your account yourself; or email support@simplpickl.com to request a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it.
Depending where you live you may have legal rights to know, correct, delete, obtain a portable copy, and not be discriminated against for exercising them. We extend these to everyone who asks, wherever they live, rather than asking you to prove you qualify. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front. You do not need a SimplPickl account to make a request.
10. Children
SimplPickl is for players aged 13 and over. It is not directed to children under 13, we do not knowingly collect their information, and we ask you to confirm your age when you sign up. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email support@simplpickl.com and we will delete it promptly.
11. Reporting content, and removal of intimate images
If you see a message or image in SimplPickl that breaks our rules, report it in the app or email support@simplpickl.com. We review reports and remove content and accounts that violate our Terms of Service.
If an intimate image of you has been posted without your consent, email support@simplpickl.com with the words "TAKE IT DOWN" in the subject line and enough detail to locate the image. You do not need a SimplPickl account. We will remove the reported image and any identical copies we know of within 48 hours of a valid request. This applies to real images and to digitally created or altered ones.
12. Security
We protect your information with measures appropriate to a service of this kind: encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and access limited to what running the service requires. No online service can promise perfect security and we do not. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.
13. Where SimplPickl is offered and where information is processed
SimplPickl is offered in the United States and operated from the United States; your information is stored and processed there. If you access it from outside the US, you understand your information is transferred to and handled in the US.
14. Accuracy, and the limits of what we promise
SimplPickl builds schedules, keeps score, and shows information supplied by you and other users. We provide it as-is. We do not warrant that anything in SimplPickl is accurate, complete, current or reliable, and The Maslin Group, LLC is not responsible or liable for any loss or harm arising from your use of it or reliance on it. The full statement — the disclaimer of warranties, the limitation of liability, and the exceptions the law does not permit us to exclude — is in our Terms of Service, which you accepted when you created your account.
15. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters we will update the "Last updated" date and tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use SimplPickl after that means the new version applies. Past versions are available on request.
